This medication isused alone or with other medications to prevent nausea andvomitingcaused by cancer drug treatment (chemotherapy). It is alsoused to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting after surgery inadults.
Granisetron worksby blocking one of the body's natural substances (serotonin) that cancause vomiting.
How to use GranisetronHcl Vial
Read the PatientInformation Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before youstart using granisetron and each time you get a refill. If you haveany questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Headache, diarrhea, dizziness,fever, or pain/redness/swelling at the injection site may occur. If any ofthese effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor promptly.
Remember that yourdoctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judgedthat the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many peopleusing this medication do not have serious side effects.
Beforeusing granisetron, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you areallergic to it; or to other anti-nausea serotonin blockers(e.g., dolasetron, ondansetron); or if you have anyother allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which cancause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for moredetails.
