Cyclosporine isused to prevent organ rejection in people who have receiveda liver, kidney, or heart transplant. It is usually taken alongwith other medications to allow your new organ to function normally.Cyclosporine belongs to a class of drugs known as immunosuppressants. It worksby weakening the immune system to help your body accept the new organas if it were your own.
How to use Cyclosporine
Takethis medication by mouth as directed by your doctor,usually once daily. You may take this medication with or without food, but itis important to choose one way and take this medication the same way with everydose.
The dosage isbased on your weight, medical condition, lab tests, and response totreatment.
Avoid eatinggrapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless yourdoctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit canincrease the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor orpharmacist for more details.

Shaking, headache, dizziness,unusual growth ofbody hair, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset,or flushing may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell yourdoctor or pharmacist promptly.
Unusual growth andswelling of the gums may occur. Brush your teeth and floss daily toreduce this problem. See your dentist regularly.
Beforetaking cyclosporine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you areallergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product maycontain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or otherproblems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
